Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

What's happening at SJVBU ?

On surface It's calm here for a while since RAE layoff in Aug this year. BP's are being let go like crazy but for employees SJV Leaders are denying any second RAE, ROM or retirement packages. However there are lot of rumors in workforce about backend work being done for Q1 2016 reductions. Anyone has a better word ?

Hiding in their corner offices. That speaks volumes of some of our Chevron managers. They better learn that true leaders remain on the front lines if they want their subordinates to respect them. Hiding from the ones they know will be cut doesn't save them from the ones that will remain after all this is over. Learn that now if you haven't already.

All managers have been hiding in their corner offices not speaking to employees. Sad!

They dont need so many people. They need to axe them mercilessly.

There will be blood, just ask Meagan Kelly. No BU is safe, following the last contractor will be the first employee. Facilities and d&c to see the largest cut, good luck and update your resume

Those involved in sjv reorg are very tight lipped. Most team leads are unaware of the pending doom

The safest demographic from layoff (other than female and queer) are post horizon employees with more than 10yrs left before retirement and consistent 2 or higher performance ranking. Chevron sees these employees, at a high level, the most value adding and the best chance for them to recoup investment.

SJVBU will see employees cuts next year. In spring expect to see a round of expats (almost all) returned home. Additionally, some asset sales are being considered and if they are executed there will be employee reductions. If low oil prices persist, another round of cuts will be made in the fall.

Don't have any idea what's happening in SJVBU. Find a way to enjoy your job, enjoy life and stop worrying about things you can't control.
