Marathon Spouses

I know for sure that I am not the only spouse/significant other of a Marathon employee that's been freaking out all day (and maybe checking this site every minute or so). If anyone needs to chat, I'm here. I know we all want to think our spouses are too good to be let go, but we need to stay positive no matter what. It's okay to panic and freak out for a few minutes, but don't let it control you. Don't let it last too long... We get through it by staying calm, and eventually moving on...

I hope things turn out to be less bad than everyone is expecting.

My husband is in IT, they had cuts today, he's safe (for now) - I hope your spouses get to keep their jobs as well. This is sad and nerve-wrecking but we'll get through it at some point.

I am trying not to worry, I cannot change anything and all will be OK. We always manage and we'll figure it out again.

In response to 201335. Trust in God and have faith. This is only a job, not a career. I went out in the first round in Feb., found a much better and secure job. The upstream business is probably the most insecure side of the business. If you were to be cut, remember it is not your fault, but the price of crude. We all gave it our best, worked hard, and had positive attitudes. Go enjoy time with your family, then move on with a positive outlook. God provides to those who seek him.

Let's all keep praying. Trust God despite the circumstances, He closes doors to open better ones. Let's be strong for our spouses. May God Bless us and our families!
