I genuinely think some of the best people I've come across worked for the company. It's a major reason I've stayed for so long. I'm scared of working somewhere else where I'm disrespected or people are plain mean/vile. I realize this board has people who've had quite the opposite experience, and yes, maybe I would make more money somewhere else, but the quality of people I see on a daily basis is something I value. Unfortunately, this isn't a stable business and it's time to leave knowing I worked for a company that had a good run and the TMs were the main reason why. Hopefully I'll find the right fit, but it feels daunting.

I'm with you. One of my favorite things about my time at wfm has been my coworkers. I've never had another job where I've been surrounded by so many interesting, intelligent, creative, and conscientious people. I also felt like I could be myself and didn't have to adopt some phony work-persona to succeed. Thinking about leaving is daunting not only for financial reasons, but like you said, I'm sure wherever I go won't have as cool of a staff.
I think that's a big reason we're all so angry and bitter... It is really hard to watch people you care about and that you know deserve better suffering like we all have been lately.

Yes there are good people but I think most people are talking about the higher ups that make the real decisions. I worked in two stores, loved both my STL's, and naturally we all don't love everyone we work. I have see the cut throats that will do anything they can to get ahead but that's also pretty typical behavior in people. I have made friends who I plan on staying in touch with. Some got laid off with me, some are still there hoping for the next cut to get the package! The thing about WFM is that there is a fantasy that everything is great! So in that respect it is like any other "cult" and they believe their own press! I hope they start believing the negative press soon but I think it's too late.
