Not Apache. They are struggling and looking for a white knight. Two drowning swimmers don't save themselves by clinging to each other. So why did Anadarko approach Apache? Maybe just another poorly planned transaction. More likely Anadarko thought the 1-2M bbl excess supply was a shorter term problem. And they would need the excess personnel to manage the assets. Anadarko's asset mix make it attractive only to a really big player. XOM thinks it has the resources to ride out the current market conditions for years.

It's a crap shoot anyway.. Does not matter who buys who.. if we all have our jobs for a while it's a blessing.. it's only going to get worse..!!
