What is the likelihood of Cabela's layoffs in Sidney in 2016? Please let me know if you have any information.

You know what really is a hoot? The employees are not entitled to jack. This is not me saying it, it is the way corporations are. We work at a big-box yahoo store. Luke Bryan makes $50 million this year. Cabela's sells out and its insiders get a bunch of money. The rest of us get to see how it all goes down and will be lucky if things do not get worse. It is like some kind of Matrix, but we have a choice to just leave this steaming pile. Companies of much higher rank have let their employees go with not even as much a kiss after getting screwed.
If you have an opportunity to get out of Sidney jump on it and don't look back
I would find another job with another company
If the sale of Cabela's to Bass Pro (or any other company) takes place, you will almost definitely see major job cuts in Sydney. The headquarters would certainly be closed (Bass Pro is based in Springfield MO) since a company doesn't need 2 headquarters. I would bet that the DC's would face some downsizing as well since there would almost certainly be a redundancy in retail distribution. In short, I've never seen a company sold where the buying company kept all of the employees or assets of the selling company. It's been said here already, but it's worth repeating: The only winners in this are Tommy Millner, the Board of Directors, and the Cabela family. The same people who have lied to the employees and convinced many of them that we were all one big family. Unfortunately the losers who will take the brunt of the pain in any purchase deal are the everyday employees who lived paycheck to paycheck and sacrificed weekends and holidays away from family to make these heartless people rich.
