Thread regarding Noble Energy Inc. layoffs

Get rid of the bad managers this time.

I've been in this industry for over twenty years and have worked for several companies in that time. Never have I worked at a company with so many bad managers in one place. The culture of a company typically comes from the top. What is displayed at Noble is a culture of control, fake what you know, and throw anyone under the bus who does not kiss your ass or agree with you without question.

Sad. I doubt this round of layoffs with be any different. Susan et al are ignorant and determined to run Noble into the ground.

Canonsburg has many unhappy employees and bad land managers. Get rid of non ops guy that is only interested in strutting his stuff and padding his ego. Line up employees that are hoping for a severance package. Then get rid of those that can't seem to get along with others or complain to HR for every little thing. That should take care of leaving a very small crew that is there to get the work done.

Yes Tim Baum is next to useless. I can see no reason for his presence. He needs to be gone. Another one of those ex Amoco-ers who ran that proud company into the ground.

Having Tim B over Land is like having Donald Trump over the Texas A&M Astrophysics Department. Clueless, but eager to state an opinion.

Can Tim B. nothing positive in anything he has done DO is only dept that has any work going on and they have to fix what Canonsburg screws up North and South MBU managers don't work an ounce of extra to see things done right Title supr makes all kinds of noise about working but title has only gotten worse. All he cares about is his title and running good people off. And he blames those who could get the job done land non operations is a joke.

About time the frat party and games ended and some work gets done. Title Dept is a bust from the supervisor down. No order No work. Time thieves and drinkers. No redponsibility. Bad hires. And Guy hired for non ops mgr had never seen the inside of a company before. has done nothing but talk bad about old and new land manager. if Houston knows, they don't care. And top land guy knows nothing about land at all. He is more worried about popularity than getting work done. Can him and most inept managers and we would be better off

Dr Phil is a stooge, simply trying to suppress the discussion whenever it hits too close to home.

What Still Standing says is true, unfortunate but true. Susan and nearly everyone of her managers are incompetent and the few that aren't habitually fail to speak up. Susan and her direct reports viciously enforce conformity. No ideas other than their own or that fit their myopic vision have merit. Worse, their arrogance squelches legitimate concerns in order to perpetuate the illusion of a successful organization. They have repeatedly received, ignored and suppressed sound technical critiques on every country, every basin and every well they failed in. They habitually invoke disingenuous "breakthrough thinking" to grossly inflate the numbers and rationalize their self serving visions. Anyone who seriously questioned them on these practices was bullied into submission or run off. "How could you dare question them? Hadn't they been successful?" Truth is they exploited early luck in EG and the Eastern Med to justify an ongoing program of mind numbing costly blunders. Failures that were preventable if they would only have opened their minds to the facts. But facts are stubborn things, they don't go away no mater how much management ignores them. Even the much trumpeted "successes" are proving to be problematic. Eastern Med and now EG are in danger (check the news). If the Board ever decides to get serious and fix this company they need to take a long hard look at the numbers, they tell the true story. And if they do the facts will be clear, replace the entire management team before they do any more damage.

Does anyone know if people in the Houston office will be laid off this round, company wide or more concentrated to certain areas?

There is nobody in leadership in the Land Department who is qualified to either judge the talent below them, or teach them. I'm not sure there is anybody who can judge the talent, if any, of those supervisors. Little work is being done, so if you let them all go, nobody would notice except them. Cold, brutal, but true. The frat party is about to end.

Hiring in Canonsburg has been bad. No checking qualifications checked. Several hired who could have gotten company sued if several women had a mind to do that. All goes back to HR and a couple of bad managers who feuded from the start and hired friends and let them do nothing while breaking the backs of others. Made life hell for anyone who knew more than he did. Demoted the one guy who could have saved business unit. Lots of Unqualified attorneys falsifies or overstated qualifications and who won't work and refuse to learn. Not all. I'm one of the good ones. Big attitudes and bad HR giving credit to stupid complaints. Fire all managers save one or maybe two. Make people work. Then a layoff might be averted. If you get some good people in there you might actually get some clean title. Stupid lack of accountability and knowledge which can't be fixed unless you clean up your house including HR
