What Still Standing says is true, unfortunate but true. Susan and nearly everyone of her managers are incompetent and the few that aren't habitually fail to speak up. Susan and her direct reports viciously enforce conformity. No ideas other than their own or that fit their myopic vision have merit. Worse, their arrogance squelches legitimate concerns in order to perpetuate the illusion of a successful organization. They have repeatedly received, ignored and suppressed sound technical critiques on every country, every basin and every well they failed in. They habitually invoke disingenuous "breakthrough thinking" to grossly inflate the numbers and rationalize their self serving visions. Anyone who seriously questioned them on these practices was bullied into submission or run off. "How could you dare question them? Hadn't they been successful?" Truth is they exploited early luck in EG and the Eastern Med to justify an ongoing program of mind numbing costly blunders. Failures that were preventable if they would only have opened their minds to the facts. But facts are stubborn things, they don't go away no mater how much management ignores them. Even the much trumpeted "successes" are proving to be problematic. Eastern Med and now EG are in danger (check the news). If the Board ever decides to get serious and fix this company they need to take a long hard look at the numbers, they tell the true story. And if they do the facts will be clear, replace the entire management team before they do any more damage.
