Why are people complaining so much about the lay offs. A bunch of people stuck at the same title for 10 years is not a good asset to any company. Better yet why were these people hired to begin with?
Qualcomm cutting the chaff is a necessity.

I disagree. At some point, a person reaches their limit. If they are happy and very productive when they hit this limit, then they are of great value to the company. If they stay at this same limit for 40 years, they are still of great value.

Cool story bro
the good will go on their on own....only the laggards need to be fire...
actually a lot of top performers have been fired when they decided to close a lot of peripheral offices
Is sucking up and claiming credit part of the criteria for being a "top performer"? How many VPs and directors really do the real work besides relaying the reporting? Are they "top performers"? How is the "top performer" being determined? Just by the whims and preference of the direct supervisor? What if the direct supervisor is from the same village?
I think we should understand by now that work and recognition don't go hand-in-hand. I am curious how the "top performers" who are earning in the millions per year in the higher management has proven their results. There may be something to learn there, then again, maybe not.
