Thread regarding Noble Energy Inc. layoffs

LEADERSHIP! WHAT LEADERSHIP??

So, they had a Downhill, oops, TOWNHALL in PA a week ago, and not one word from the HOUSTON-BASED boss on layoffs! 5 days later, the bomb is dropped!

To add insult to injury, MR. STOVER conducted a meeting at the Ivory Towers yesterday and personally states the size and scope of upcoming layoffs will be deep...to folks that will probably not be nearly as affected-houldn't that message have been delivered face-to-face with the most affected employees in the DJ and PA units?

Don't worry, though, engineers-you'll get a move to the Towers IF YOU ARE LUCKY! After all, it's our engineer-baced MGMT that continues to lead us down the primrose path!

Happy Holidays!

This isn't a defense of HR, but their role is to be the enforcer. They don't make the decisions, they just implement them. The executive team kicks off and decides the depth of the layoffs. Lesser managers pick the targets. HR just handles the dirty work.

"Miss Cindy", what you say about the Noble HR group is true. I have never seen a group of department "leaders" that LAZY and indifferent about their jobs. When the department leaders do nothing, you cannot expect the workers to produce. There are a few good workers in the HR ranks, but most are no more energetic than their management. Many spend several hours each day gossiping about employees and sometimes about what is written on websites like this and who they think writes on here.

I'm with "seriously"! Tired of them telling us one thing in Town Hall meetings and doing the opposite shortly after !

Ultimately, it's HR that dictates how these things go down. The mandate comes down to cut staff, then HR goes about getting the murder weapons in place. Their usual strategy is "No need to cause panic. These layoffs are going to happen, people will squirm in anguish, but they'll be gone and then we can move on." You gotta love people who work in HR: "I'm a 'people person.' I love interacting with people" - and then they just dismiss you 'cuz that's their job!

They can get away with that "energizing the world, bettering peoples lives" because to them you are a number not a person.

Doesn't Management have to report to the stockholders next week?

Let's see....

"We've bombed out in the Falklands and every other goat pasture, but the GOOD news is WE"RE CUTTING JOBS! So, we can keep leading, right?"

As employees that continue to purchase our cutrate stock, maybe we should band together and threaten to dump it all back on the market!

Oh, that's right, we're already too deep by buying into and devoting a portion our life savings backing up a company that is less than responsible to us!
