Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

Does it seem like people miss a lot or work and no one even keeps track? Sign of the economny? The culture? No body seems to care.

I have been calling out at least 3 days a month, taking advantage as much as possible. No one notices. I answer a few key emails from home and if anyone asks I was around that day in meetings, phone conferences or in the bathroom. Useage of any of those 3 excuses will work at any given time. Folks in the office are so far up their own asses that no one truly notices.

KB (also know as 80's chick for her years of outdated puffed up hairstyle) is the ultimate HR fembot. by the rules and absolutely no help to anyone. She had her underling MF for years screwing things up and took forever to fire her. total waste of space.

Funny things is, they take forever to get a replacement in the mattel culture. Over in NYC we took almost a year to replace managers, designers and usually drop the ball when it comes to getting the yearly batch of interns. HR here sucks and is not on the ball.

Everyone is out interviewing? No matter, you can all be replaced in minutes.

Yes. It is pretty rampant with some people really taking advantage. I think it is because of bad management. Good leaders make sure their people come in; or they notice. Comes from the top down.

Everyone is in a depression. It's only a matter of time before they quit. Probably a mass exodus after the holiday break. Mattel has become a horrible place to work. Your expertise and experience have zero value- not when buyers and "research" are weighing in to control how the brands look. Mattel is paralyzed by marketing dictating creative and upper management unable to make a decision. Why bother anymore? It's a depressing place to work for anyone.

I believe it's the latter. Nearly everyone is either looking to get out, or are in such a depression that they use every day off they can get away with. It seems like it takes a lot to get fired for something like that, I know, I tried. So why not take advantage of the chaos.
