Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

A few notes for those involved with the layoffs in Oklahoma (and elsewhere). The economy as a whole in Oklahoma depends on oil and gas revenues. As the oil and gas industry goes, so goes the State of Oklahoma. A number of the largest employers in the state no longer exist. Samson in Tulsa ceased to exist. Williams in Tulsa was acquired by a Texas firm. And obviously neither are viable employers. Both the state and the municipal governments have reduced hiring due to budget constraints. And so for those involved in layoffs in Oklahoma the best advice might be to look in states other than Oklahoma. Oddly enough Texas is booming, so to speak.

Okay, you are taking this article a bit too far. There are still other oil and gas companies making profits and hiring in the state. There are also other industries outside of oil and gas in OK such as aerospace. Oklahoma is not dead yet.
