today's message from our dear colleague Jay Johnson, Executive Vice President, Upstream: "reduce Chevron's workforce by 6,000 - 7,000 people from end of 2014 to the end of next year." which is interesting since it seems to imply that the previous 1,500 are included in that number. "we will conduct an enterprise selection process in the first quarter of 2016, details of which are currently being developed, but will largely focus on expatriate employees and U.S. business units."
Wrong. Management already approved severance packages for 2016.
Rumor has it with less or no severance package this time.
I think what OP meant was, 90% of (or majority of) wave one layoff will begin in Jan.
Mommy let you play on the PC today? Beddie bye, dear, time to go beddie bye boo boo!! Nightie night!!!
You are an idiot if you think any company can lay off 90% and still remain in business. They are going to lay off another 20-25% in 1Q 2016. This last wave of layoffs was based on the premise of $60/barrel oil. With it currently sitting in the $30s, it is evident that this has to happen. I feel bad for those who survived the first ROM, only to sit there and wait their sentencing. The worst part of being there during ROM was the deafening silence from management. Always wondering if it was your time to pack. Morale was pretty awful.
Get real, after a 90% cut we will have only chiefs and no indians.
You heard the Cartoon Network playing on the TV set in the next room. Next wave of layoffs will not be 90%, but perhaps another 10-20%. Layoffs may continue after that, but in manageable chucks at a time.
