The situation is worse and worse for the individuals looking for employment. The negative aspects of the low oil prices are focused in geographic areas heavy in oil and gas. And the employers focus on local hires in other geographic areas. Interviewed today for an employer one state over and the hiring manager expressed concern for both the non local hire and the length of the unemployment. For individuals in shared services roles such as finance and information technology do consider moving immediately to a geographic area not heavy in oil and gas.
