I worked at the Art Institute as a full-time faculty for more than 10 years. I thought of myself as part of the 'team,' part of a 'family' striving to help students make something of their lives for themselves and their loved ones.
One day I received a call and was told that I was being terminated -- but I might be able to teach there as an adjunct teaching a couple classes (as opposed to a full load of 5 or six) for a third of the pay ( I've been depending on the health insurance. Now, unless I'm able to pull something out of ... I don't know where ... I am of an age that it is very difficult to find a new job. I face losing my home, I don't know how I'm going to care for my wife.
Most companies hold it against you for working at EDMC more than a year so be careful telling future employers if it's been over a year.
Below expectations describes most of the students I start just to hit those numbers.
I made the same resolution after I got my first "Below Expectations" for a quarter. Same quarter a parent died...thanks pricks
Thank you for speaking the truth! Best wishes on a new career! :)
