@383--if you derive 90% of your revenue from federal funds, a school shouldn't be run like a boiler-room diploma mill, Dopey. UOP shouldn't pretend to be a university if they are going to spend more on marketing/recruitment than on students and real learning outcomes. The Feds are slowly turning up the heat. Ha Ha.

339- U of P is a publically traded business, not an ivory tower, liberal-minded academic institution. Don't fool yourself - it is ALWAYS about the numbers. OP - Reduction in force is a good way for management to get rid of anyone they want, for any reason without the same level of risk of wrongful termination litigation. That said, most companies will go through a systematic process to identify who will be let go. No union to dictate criteria or file grievances, so those paid higher than their peers are at greater risk, as are those with documented performance issues, attendance issues, and the ever-popular "bad attitudes". Ironically, in a continuously shrinking business, those let go early in the process are often better off than those laid off later on. The longer you "hang on", the less likely it is that you receive severance, and the more competition there is for fewer jobs.

@301--Why is this even about numbers? UOP executives tell everyone it isn't about numbers--they tell regulators and employees it's about doing the right thing but if you don't haul in an expected number, they play dirty tricks and try pushing people out the door. UOP managers are f***ing lying used car salesmen. Time for the Feds to cut off all funds to this sham school--it's fun watching them fall apart.

Performance is top priority... If you're low you're out. Next comes your review, again if you're low... You're out. Disciplinary actions don't come into play until now, because most people with disciplinary actions are poor performing, see #1. This is a long overdue move that unfortunately will impact people. For the folks that live in AZ, shouldn't be hard to find another job; I was able to land a new gig in 2 weeks of my departure. Best of luck!!

I heard from a girl that has connections with HR that it's based on performance this round if you haven't been getting 6 + starts a month take the volluntary.

I know what you were TRYING to say here but Jesus, pick up a damned dictionary or use spell check, dude. Alright, I'll stop being a dick. No one really knows what the layoff criteria will be as the higher ups hoard that information and learning the specifics is like solving the riddle of the damned Sphinx. I would guess that higher paying people without degrees would be the first to be shown the door. Biggest revenue hit for their buck. Other than that, standard write ups, poor performance (yes, they CAN fire you for this contrary to popular belief). It's clearly a numbers game for the execs, not a matter of loyalty or time that people have invested in the institution.
