It's unfair that SJVBU let go of geologists that earned their MS but they kept one that never did. Is it that he's favored because he works KR field?

This guy has less than 3 yrs with CVX. Less than 3 yrs oil experience in general. HR just forgot to do their homework. I like how some think he's just "really good at his job." It's that SJVBU HR is really bad at theirs.
Chevron is known for allowing inbred relatives for generations to hire and promote relatives. Do you believe any other large corporation has such flagrant nepotism?
Nope CVX does not keep the younger folk! They keep and invest in the good ol buddies and kiss asses from within! I was a young HES with over 19yrs in the industry and got the boot with over 5 years of IFO operations in my area, don't believe the hype with their bullshit cause getting 2 and 2+ don't mean much anymore!
Either a minority, manager's relative, or is totally incompetent.. the future CVX people
An MS is not required to be an earth scientist. It is required to get hired entry level though. Perhaps this person is good at his job even without an MS?
Sad news for many - sorry you and others are laid off. You don't know all the reasons why things happen but I am pretty sure this doesn't help. Being laid off sucks - look for other things that you can do. If you are a person of faith you know that God opens doors and closes others. If not, then you need to rationalize why it happened, forget about it, move on and enjoy life.
Looks like this person found this post and so did their friends.
Sometimes its about aptitude and not qualifications. If you ever pissed off your boss or your bosses boss, an event like a ROM is their chance to get rid of you especially if you were rude to them or others. Who they like weighs heavy in the decision process and its not just qualifications that are considered.
The fact you think a person is more qualified because they have a degree is exactly what's wrong with this company. You look a squiggly lines for a living.
Check out if he is a relative of a Chevron manager.
Most likely are much older and the guy they kept is a lot younger. Chevron value the younger employees since they are the future.
It's not wrong because he's working under the pretext that he has his MS.
He's favored by management. Chevron requires a MS for geologist.
Performance & attitude vs. entitlement...
Did you ever think that even without it, that person may be better at his job than the other person? Grow up.
