Is this company really as bad as everyone makes it out to be on here? This company has won many awards for best place to work I find it hard to believe that it's really that bad.

RJ IT started it's downfall with Mark Abbott, supposed Wunderkind p--pooing "ITIL" saying "ITIL is bullsh all went to the chopping block to "cut costs", yet somehow the company still manages to make high returns. hmmmm....
Yeah they won awards, YEARS AGO!!!! You'll notice the awards stopped when Andy Zolper and Bella started to work there. 6 or 7 years in a row of best place to work. Now, not even in the top 100.
Wow guess RJ has gone to the toilets.
it's worse!!
Things are getting better. They have reinstated the plastic spoons on our floor.
This is a place to stay away from. Many people have left or taken early retirement that have been there over 15 years. While a lot of this is about the security team, ALL teams are suffering from poor management and a lack of caring for their employees. When it gets to the point where there employees are no longer able to get a plastic spoon, fork or hot chocolate, you know that management thinks you are nothing but a work horse, they can get rid if when they feel like it. Hot chocolate, tea and plastic utensils were always available since before 2000. Now the only thing mgmt. thinks is necessary is coffee and water. I found another job after a decade of working for this company and I'm so much happier where I'm at now. If you are looking for a long term career with advancement and training opportunities, this is definitely NOT the place to be. Take what you have heard and at least double it and then you have HOW BAD THE IT DEPT REALLY IS!!!!
Is it just Security that blows in RJ or is it ALL of IT?
Yes, RJ has won awards, but look at the dates. Awards ended a few years ago, with the start of the new management. RJ is no longer inning awards.
Obviously you have not read everything here to make a stupid statement like that.
Good information I appreciate it. I'm a Sys Admin and was looking to apply there but now that's not going to happen.
Raymond James hasn't always been notorious for layoffs, well, until this new leadership team came to town, then the game changed. RJ was always a good place to work up until the Bella/Vin reign and a few others. Since this team took over, there have been layoffs, numerous company gatherings have been cancelled. In the previous era, with Tim Eitel at the helm, RJ consistently made one of the Top 100 places in the country to work for in Information Technology. Since he was pushed out, RJ has yet to make that list. The employee insight survey tells the story in many departments and should give you a good idea of what leadership teams are good and which are bad. Typical expected turnover rate in all of IT runs around 10%, and that is due to people leaving, retiring, layoffs. In some areas, for instance, IT Security, that turnover rate has probably been closer to 70% over the past couple years. That area has been a huge focal on this thread for obvious reasons, poor leadership.
If you are considering employment at RJ, stay on the business side and away from IT. If you are a techie, I'd stay away from Security unless you enjoy being ruled by fear for your job, a very non-personal VP, and a CISO who doesn't care about people. The other teams to work for have good leadership and get things done. Stay away from anything in the Andy Zolper reporting chain, it'll only cause grief and heartache, well, unless you're an ex-marine.
The website is called the layoff. You aren't going to find any positive comments. Hating is the point.
