Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

What criteria was used to select TM's who were laid off? I never had a write up & gave my team & store excellence, as most of you all did.

that's a interesting question. bc regina west showed favoritism, her job should be eliminated, she is horrible. look what she did to mitizi. that should have been mitizi store, people respected her, they hate regina. she is never there and always has someone covering for her. Regional open your eyes she is FAKE

I too, never had a write-up. I enjoyed my job, and fellow co-workers. I felt grateful to be there, and was there for quite sometime. I was known as hard-working in the store. What they told me was -it was my position that was being eliminated entirely, within the region. But how can you not take it personally? I had answered questions, so I could get closure. Not sure what to believe anymore. There was no simple apology, ( and there were three managers that had more more than one opportunity to tell me so ) it was just business-as-usual manner, that part blew me away. And sadly has left a scare, making me seriously re-think if I ever want o re-apply for this company ever again. I was only told I was rehireable ,days later (that was after signing the papers). It didn't make me feel any better, only sick to my stomach -at they WAY they choose to deliver it to hard-working and loyal employees. I also had been supporting WFM for fifteen years. Thus they will loose THOUSANDS from me, as I'm choosing to no longer shop there. Good luck Walmart Jr, because you made a very bad economic decision, with me. I did have an option to stay in my position for the eight weeks of course, but I didn't trust them, how could you. This is all timed, right before the fiscal year. If you are one of the individuals, who will end up staying in a new position, it is only because it's a higher volume store. And guarantee, you will be paid less- so what's the point? jump ship, and see what else is out there.

We were told anyone on final would be let go first. Then they let go of people whose position was being eliminated: healthy eating specialists, backup GAs, backup Receiver, backup TMSL, etc. Then they got rid of duplicate positions (too many Specialists, for example).

My store lost quite a few "long time" TMs, people who had been with the company for a long time, but never moved up. I'm assuming they were costing the store too much money just to be a TM.

I'm sure most must have been FT, so they don't have to pay them extra benefits, and had been there for quite some time, earning above living wage minimum.

The folks that were laid off in our store were good people, hard workers, and well liked ( except for one, but that was because they did not do anything ). It would be hard to believe that the good ones had anything on their records. Either each store had to make decisions, as to what positions to remove permanently ( so as to pass down more work onto others, for same pay) they call it "efficiency", and the fat-ass none working managers at my store can insure their end-of-year bonuses. Or regional is re-structuring the new Walmart culture, and fat f***s up top can get their greedy piece of the pie. Either way, it's all corrupt. There is no more trust left in this so-called progressive company. There never were core-values, since the day I started, and will only get worse. Why would you want to re-apply, and continue to take the abuse?

It's a poorly run company, and they have been running on their reputation far too long. It's a matter of time, when karma will catch-up. As far as I'm concerned, the ones that were let go, were the lucky ones.

Surprisingly, they didn't lay off too many team members at my store. The people let go were excellent workers and had nothing on their records.

However, they ARE firing people at my store who were disliked by leadership as soon as they can find a reason. Others are going straight from a clean record to a final over one mistake.
