Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

You have to wonder if old Ed Smith was still trying to drive the Titanic all the way to the bottom and even after she got there? Also wonder

if he blamed her demise on every sailor and minor officer on the bridge? Bottom line the only reason the HMS Titanic and the CVX GOMBU won't suffer the same fate is that they ALREADY HAVE. GOM is stuck on the bottom with the same Captain trying to steer her out of the silt.. When WW handed over the wheel her fate was sealed. Good luck to the survivors, luck to those who get out, and if any of you end up riding in the Angola Prison Rodeo, you no doubt deserve it, and won't be the first Executive Managers that Chevron has sent to the West Feliciana Retirement Home. RICO is not your friend.

Anon 118, you have not been in the same meetings and corporate dinners that I've been in. Compliance checks mean little when 95% of CNAEP's operational procurement is on field personnel's P-Cards. There is widespread SOX and basic accounting laws violations taking place here.

I seriously doubt there is any knowing mis-reporting - too many good honest folks and compliance checks to allow that to happen.

In terms of PSL's - all awards >$x surely get vetted and approved by a number of folks. There is transparency in this. Has the rigor got stronger or weaker over the last few years?

What gets signed for in the field will have the same rigor applied?

No, it will not be a surprise at all when the Feds start walking folks out in handcuffs from COV100. Nepotism and simple mismanagement is one thing; stupidity and ignorance cannot be legislated. However, RICO, SOX, and basic corporate taxation and accounting laws are quite another thing entirely. The former will get you a slap on the wrist; the latter will get your panty size enlarged in a federal pen.

Don't know for a fact, but I don't think anyone would be shocked if a few COV100 managers were indicted for kickbacks and payola. Lots of cozy relationships with business partners.
