Thread regarding Cameron International Corp. layoffs

I have heard a rumor that Cameron will be getting rid of all administrative assistants in the drilling division because they are no longer needed. Receptionists will be kept for the large offices and all others will be let go. All other employees will be responsible for doing all their own reports, placing orders, maintaining facility services, taking care of repairs, etc.. I also heard that all training being done by HSE will be obsolete when Schlumberger takes over because they have their own training structure and people in place. That has already happened in a couple of places.

Observing all the comments is leading me to believe. Creating the atmosphere of Dog Eat Dog mentality has take hold. First to Rat out the other guy. Throw somebody under the Bus. Who knows who. Cameron Family my Eye. This will be a long agonizing Corse of self destruction implemented the shallow minded leaders with no realization of the consequences. Eat your Heart out and get somewhere.

This is very typical in an acquisition. The buyer (SLB in this case) runs the show. All CAM employees are now only SPARE PARTS for SLB. Only the SPARE PARTS SLB deems useful will be part of the NEW SLB and the remaining ones will be DISCARDED!!!

This is the normal course for a business that is contracting based on market forces. The "rumor" you reference will be realiity for some folks as decisions are being made to keep the company as lean as possible for earnings. As the company reduces spend and personnel to right size to the market conditions there will be lot of changes.

Secondly with the SLB aquisition more changes will come as SLB already has their own HR, IT, Supply Chain, Legal etc. that will be deciding who and what is needed for Cameron operations and shared services. The bottom line is change is happening and will continue for sometime.
