Do you know when the ppl who opted for EOI have to leave ? Can they leave earlier ?

It wouldn't really make much sense to boot them out the door at the same time. For people wanting to leave, having them stay an train replacements would make more sense. It's not like they will be pissed over getting fired and do the company harm.

To add to that, an expression of interest is not even a guarantee of being laid off. A high level manager here is planning on retiring in 2 years and has told us all this. He told us he put in the EOI form, but I doubt he will be laid off at this time because of role/responsibility/performance.

They may not honor all EOI requests. The EOI request simply is an individual's request to be laid off during this process while providing him/her the enhanced severance package, i.e. severance with a 60 month cap. Those who's requests are honored will not know until the layoff process works itself to them. They will be called to a conference room and treated like all of the other laid off people.
