Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

HR please ask all leads to be reviewed by their engineers/ followers . Tons of leads and managers idle and thrashing engineers to work harder

Treating engineers as slaves with their "I'm the manager and I'm the king maker " attitude . Emotionally harassing engineers .

Bossing over folks around doing nothing but gossiping with other managers . Is there no other way for us than give up hope and leave for good ?

If he is verbally abusive, unprofessional and a screamer..... Hell yes...I will probably use 4 letter words in the review... No one, including managers, have right to mistreat folks and be un professional.

Even if you were asked to review your manager or leaders, do you think you can write any bad words?

Selecting randomly(?) every other year does not make any sense.... Should be a part of the ShareiT and a requirement for folks to fill in every review period. Of course if the comments/feedback about the manager is consistently negative across the team he/she is managing, the comments should be taken seriously and appropriate action taken to relieve the manager of this management responsibilities. I bet with this process in place only and only the folks who really posses management skills and EQ required for this role will only be able to hold this "manager" title and paid deservingly. As opposed to now all useless directors and anyone becoming managers for the meager 3% (or whatever the amount is) raise....

That has been the case for my group for the last ten years. Every other year, I was asked to evaluate my manager and our group (under one VP).

I was not really serous about it since my group have not been too bad.

May be you guys have never been selected to do the review.

Very true ! HR or Steve M or Cristiano save us engineers from these bastard managers acting like rulers. I have been with Qualcomm for 5 years and across teams I see managers emotionally threatening by not working .ask managees so managers know they are under radar too

Speaking objectively and practically (no I am not HR or manager), these changes are huge changes. If put in place all at ones, along with adjusting with lower resources, org change, project priority change, will cause a real havoc and will only be detrimental for us as a company. I think these changes must at the very least noted by HR and upper management and plan for its execution in near future and management communicate this to employees sincerely...

Good idea but HR won't under such toxic environment. This is called classic self-preservation, and who'd know better than... HR lol

This is another sort of organized crime followed within the company. If the higher ups in the management chain can act on incompetent cooked up leaders being raised by the directors that will be a start. I don't think the current review/layoff cycle accounted for any of these trash cleanup. It's a mere numbers game after all

My senior director is so arrogant .

He asks for people to come to him with concerns saying his door his open but he is never there at work.

He acts like he is the king maker.

And if u finally do talk to him he tells the world the discussion making it pointless . And he doesn't like to hear complaints . he doesn't understand that eventually the cracks will become wider

Yes. This should be part is of the review process. Feedback of managers by managees. There should be some kind of check and balance of "power". I know other companies (like dell) has this kind of review to keep things in check. This will enforce managers/leads to treat their subordinates with respect and keep things professional.
