It happens even in small companies with 30 developers .... guess it is human nature.

I saw 90 % here from my group even though only 10% works....
Typical. They retain lousy contributors either because they are friends with upper management or because they present no threat to upper management. They get rid of strong contributors because they are fearful those people will replace them. Qualcomm used to be profitable enough that they could absorb the cost of such poor decision making, but not anymore. This type of behavior is why the company is in such a bad way now.
They have not cut some of the most unemployable unproductive people in my team and let go of two of the respected, hard working ones.
I feel like shit for working here now.
