Last week of Sept. No major cutting yet. What's the story?
Seriously I just got out of a first thing AM pow wow with a marketing moron in NYC who probably spent the weekend coming up with catch words and non descriptors to be able to give me some abstract direction that as per usual made no sense. When I asked her to clarify, as per usual she became defensive and responded with "well, you ARE supposed to be the experts in your field so figure it out." If we're the "experts" then why did they put talentless morons in charge of the so-called "experts?"
"""Looks like NYC lost a marketing person. HD is out""" - Did this person leave on their own or canned? Oh no, one marketing person got ousted....versus, what? 20? 50 "lost" in design/creative departments? Let's beat a dead horse. While I agree that design shouldn't make marketing decisions....MARKETING SHOULD NOT BE MAKING ANY DESIGN DECISIONS. While I'm at it, Director level and above should NOT be making decisions little things like color. Green or blue is not going to make or break an entire product line.

Anonymous156647 you're wrong. allmark promoted her (or pushed hard for her promotion). neil was gone at that point having been passed over for stockton and he left butthurt under the guise of "retirement". btw, i hear alex toys is doing great under his leadership.
Come on o.p., let's hear some departments and some numbers!
Anonymous156066 - the Mega Mega boss only got her promotion when she left ES - no one here wanted her because they realized she was useless. But she went back to FP, and good old Neil promoted her. So blame Neil for that.
Skip the line and come past the velvet rope. You're on the list!
Please.
Monster High was also the impetus for the current assclowns to rise to power. As good as it was for the company it spurned a whole new generation of boneheads that have since run the company into the ground. The mega mega boss got her promotion from that line.
Give me a break. "I've seen the list", oh, oh...
Sure it will, without a doubt. Just ask upper mismanagement. I sincerely hope it does well if only for the poor workers who are still there hanging on for dear life. Unfortunately this is a continuing cycle that happens at that place year after year as long as lazy, clueless upper mismanagement is in place. The only thing that saved Mattel in the last 5 years was Monster High which saved Stockdown's ass for the years he was there as CEO. That line came out of nowhere & if it wasn't for MH there would have Monster lay offs years ago. It was a stay of execution for a while. It gave the EVP & SVP's & VP's more time to save millions each year, they'll be just fine as the people that actually made it happen scramble to plan on how to survive.
WAIT!!! Isn't the A.I. Barbie going to save us all???
Historically at Mattel it's always been late in the year the for the really large lay offs but they've changed it up a bit. Now it seems like it's more like small continued dismissals when ever they decide to let people go. I remember the large lay offs in Oct. right before the Holidays. The numbers are in the toilet no debating that, so that ALWAYS means reduction in workforce, plain & simple. The bootlicking sycophants will save themselves & throw all others under the bus & the Circle of Death will repeat itself. Can't wait for the Q3 KoolAide Propaganda Party :) "We are looking forward towards a really great Q4 as we've reduced & lowered our inventories for an easier sell through for the Holidays going forward in a perfect world at the end of the day". You gotta love that place.
