Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

Can't Wait for Third Quarter Results

They've already been cooking the books to hide true financials thus far. More lies will be told about third quarter numbers in order to look less pathetic as Christmas sales approach. 2016 is shaping up to be Mattel's "Come to Jesus" year. More layoffs, at the exec level too, and a new stock low for this millennium. Hold on tight. Not to your plummeting stock shares, though.

John Laaseter helped Thinkway get to the top. Thinkway was the only company that believed in JL & ToyStory back in the day and JL never forgot that as he believes in loyalty. Thinkway always gets the largest slice of the DPixar pie these days as John knows they can actually afford innovation in toys with great play patterns because TW is NOT burdened down with over paid/do nothing Directors & above. The great toys that TW produces would cost Mattel TWICE the amount just because of overhead alone. I know, as I actually did the math once. Get a TW toy, cost in our system, twice the price just to be able to support Mattel's upside down overhead. It's not rocket science, just true numbers & sad fact.

Ten years ago, Mattel was on top and Thinkway was a third rate company making laughable product. My, how the tables have turned. This is what happens when innovation, passion, and toy sense are replaced by greed, uniformity and overt political correctness. News flash for upper mismanagement: innovation is not optional and it comes from passionate creatives, not TRACs, not initiatives, and certainly not anyone above director level. We know toys, you don't. Until you shut your pie holes and start cultivating, nurturing, and appreciating the "little people" who come up with the amazing toys that could actually turn this place around and make it sustainable, you are failing us and making a mockery out of this once fine company. If Ruth & Elliot were here to see this shameful mess, they would slap your face.

All the executives care about there is how to keep making as MUCH MONEY as they possibly can while Mattel is still in existence. That's it, end of story, just ask Bryan Stockdown. Why do you think that ThinkWay can actually afford INNOVATION, same with Lego, while Mattel can't even afford to decorate a toy properly or generate a toy with decent a wall thicknesses because the OVERHEAD IS TOTALLY UPSIDE DOWN THERE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!WAKE UP. What's next, I know, molded plastic hair for Barbie? That's the ticket :) Meanwhile the idiots there spent $70MM on People Leaving Mattel? Great judgement upper mismanagement as you stripped out the core competence out of Engineering by turning them into admins. It's that damn Top Gun flat spin engines both burned out dive, er, .........I mean headwinds again. I hate when that happens. GOOSE ???????? Let him go sir.........

Don't allow your "creative" folks to be creative on a dime. You can't make innovated toys for $.50. You need to allow the creative juices to flow and spend a little money on innovation rather than exec salaries and bonuses. Doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure this out. Creativity isn't changing the color of a product or making it 10% smaller so you have the same profit margin. Quit stifling those who are creative!

If they ever hope to make changes and a profit, they better get rid of the Exec level. Apparently they can't do their job so it's once again more chiefs and not enough Indians, but keep cutting the Indians you smucks!

"Headwinds" aren't slowing Hasbro down any. What curious anomaly will affect Mattel's financials next? Will our stock be bound by the laws of GRAVITY?

When I started at mattel the stock price was at $18. I get the feeling the stock price coming full circle for me. Everything we're putting out this holiday season is cost reduced lackluster crap at best. You can only appease the shareholders for so long before even your most drastic cost cutting measures (staff reductions, cost reduced toys, spending too much on inventor items and not developing from within) yield 0 results. We haven't hit bottom yet, but we're on our way. Just remember when it comes time to vote with your stocks to go online and give the leadership that vote of no confidence. They've earned it.

Game over, right? People have been predicting this for us since 1992, but nothing happened. You need to relax a bit.
