Chances are, a lot of "retirements" you may hear about really aren't. At Mattel, "retirement" has become a euphemism for "forced exit".

Your stupidity offends me.
Please don't share your naïveté with the rest of the Internet. Thank Yeezy you're anonymous fool.
I'm absolutely amazed that the person who started this post is so clueless to have just come to this conclusion. SMH. Must be a person in upper management.
That's nothing new. But what's different now is the sheer volume, and the never-ending stupidity of Mattel's "rolling layoffs". No one feels safe and confidence in what passes for management is at an all time low. Good people are just quitting and finding better opportunities. Mattel has shown its true colors in not valuing older and longtime employees' experience, passion, or loyalty. Management stupidity has slit their own throat, cutting working positions to the bone and only keeping younger, cheaper, and less experienced people. This slow-motion trainwreck is destined to continue as Mattel self-destructs internally and employees struggle to survive and second-guess management's next cringe-worthy action.
and the package is not much better than being laid off oh but you get a retiree badge whoo hooo
