Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

It's official! Lego Surpasses Mattel as the worlds largest toy maker...

Lego’s impressive profit seems to be the result of smart business ventures. Smart is the key word here! Original, relevant, smart product.......values and investments that millenials consumers care about equals revenues...HELLO???!!!!

Lego recently announced a $150 million investment to improve its core toy materials, which are currently based in petrochemicals. Lego knows where it’s successful, too: their one product sets, which range from The Simpsons to Jurrassic Park to Star Wars, as well as original creations Ninjago and Elves, have helped the company boost its overall sales. And in order to combat kids’ inclination to play games digitally, Lego has launched a slew of video games, like the successful Lego Dimensions, and their popular feature film The Lego Movie, which was the most successful animated feature in 2014; the movie grossed $257.8 million in the U.S. and $468.8 million worldwide!

Hello???!!

I've read that clown on SA & he's either on Mattel's payroll, married to someone high up who works @ Mattel or gets free product from Mattel. One of these three :)

The investors/analysts must be per paid off monkeys who are hand picked so as not to ask the hard questions of the real numbers that really matter @ the end of each quarter. Questions in cliches that ask absolutely nothing of any real consequence? Give me a snapshot of your top line thoughts in hindsight going forward re headwinds/tailwinds. What a joke. How about they ask how far Barbie, Hot Wheels, Fisher Price, DPCars, Max Steel, Monster High, & Games & Puzzles have fallen from 4/5 years ago. Not even going to mention losing the Frozen license to arch rival Hasbro. The charade will continue until the dividends are unsustainable & the stock collapses even further. High teens after Q4, wow, while Lego & Hasbro totally make/surpass their numbers. Isn't it interesting how they don't have headwinds Mr. Sinclair, Dickson, & Farr?

Ah, so jealous of Lego who is not publicly traded so:

No "image layoffs" of a % of workers needed to appease investors or analysts.

When they had a rough time, they could take the time needed to turn around instead of having to change direction every 6 months (or 4 or 2 months).

Do not have leaders who are only interested in satisfing the market that demands increasing gains even in the midst of a recession.

Can put the customers' needs first since they don't have to put investors first.

Wow, and that results in great product & profit. Imagine that.

Super old news as Lego passed Mattel some time ago. Unlike Mattel, Lego is very smart, very focused on their core competencies & also doesn't have a ton of do nothing EVP's SVP's & useless Directors who do absolutely nothing but impede progress with their stupid changes, travel first class & eat dinners on Mattel's dime. Lego also doesn't have that state of the Art PLM system either. Ya think? Just wait until PLM eats MEGA BLOKS for lunch. If you think morale is low now just wait a month or two. January is going to be one hell of a month for Mattel as $ales numbers keep sliding due to those very nasty continuing headwinds no other major toy company is suffering from but Mattel. That's not a head wind stupid Mattel, it's a uncontrolled inverted dive that the company's in that even Capt. Sully aka Capt. Sullenberger couldn't pull them out of. Ouch.

Didn't Lego and hasbro pass mattel last year? Thought we were the #3 toymaker for a while now, though morale wise I feel much lower.

After reading this post I wonder... is it too late for Mattel to rebound ?

I no longer work there but I care what happens to the legacy and good hard working people still there

Minus most of the executives.

A reversal of fortune spiraling down or a inspired rebound ?

I watch with great curiosity and send my love and best wishes to you who remain or have been laid off or forced into early retirement !
