All the crap you idiots design should be burned in the garbage.
Unfortunately that idiot SS rose very quickly to Director once his best friend D Voss returned to Mattel as a VP. New Design VP, but same old good ole boys club. SS was the reason at least 3 very talented designers left either the group he was in charge of or left the Company entirely. It didn't really matter how many people complained to HR about him as he was protected by DV, always.........if you dared to complain DV labeled you a loose cannon with a bad attitude/hard to work with. They finally moved SS to Hot Wheels where he continued his harsh treatment of others including blaming everyone for his own stupidity/non decision making. Love the bait & switch move he tried to pull with the Star Wars die cast characters vs. the plastic characters on DPC, then blame FH who was given the bums rush from Hot Wheels so he couldn't defend himself. Disney does not forget & will make you regret..........Mattel is done as far as Disney is concerned. Since he was no longer protected by DV, SS finally got a taste of his own medicine and was shown the door last year. Unfortunately the new so called Sr. Manager is a little MiniMe SS, who wouldn't know a good toy with a decent play pattern if it ran over him in the parking lot. There will be no rebound for Mattel, just a continued slide downward. A picture perfect train wreck.
a) outsiders get confused with MOVIE GROSSES and toy sales. Fox & Cameron made like $2.8 BILLION with avatar - how much toys were sold by mattel - $30 MM? Obviously SW sells a lot of toys but what part does Mattel have - diecasts - after the event last week, the only thing left over seems to be diecasts from mattel.
b) That idiot SS who ran the line tried to slip one by Disney by subbing in plastic for diecast - adding fuel to the fire of disney hating mattel - what idiot tries to lie to disney corporate?
Mattel is not going to get another Disney license for 10 years. Of course, why not tick off Disney, it's not like they own 9 BILLION DOLLAR licensed lines ... oh whait, they do.
SDCC exclusives are not crap successes.
They got a tiny slice of the pie but unfortunately the new so called design manager over seeing that product line has never had a successful line while at Mattel. Of course unless you count all the Superman movie crap, Heman figures nobody purchased, the DreamWorks Turbo the Movie crap, the Green Lantern crap, and countless SDCC exclusives crap successes. This guy wouldn't know a good toy if it ran over him. Anything that can be copied directly from a movie, he may be able do, anything that takes any real knowledge of a decent toy or play pattern, forget it, but he LOVES to hear himself talk very loudly while saying absolutely nothing. He's perfect for the job.
