Baker Hughes, Halliburton, Schlumberger, Weatherford each have laid off 10,000+ employees. The main reason is that all of these oilfield service companies are very labor intensive, ie. lots of employees. In terms of finding ways to cut costs, the easiest way to cut costs is to cut employees. The reverse is also true. During the boom time, all of these companies will preach the same thing: the people are our greatest assets!

Baker has services. Those services are good and needed. It takes crews to provide those services. If there is one rig, they need one crew. If there are a thousand rigs, they need a thousand crews. No rigs, no crews. You are like remoras. No sharks, no free rides.
More stinky Indian curry for everybody.
