Perhaps they are getting an early jump on integration? Letting HGST handle Enterprise, like WD did when it shut down its SSD effort awhile back...?

Or maybe the WD subs efforts at SSD and Enterprise just didn't go well and they cut their losses. Hard to know from the outside.
