Thread regarding Cameron International Corp. layoffs

Post from SLB board on CAM purchase - doesn't look good

first the schlumbertrons will tell them that this is going to open a whole new world of opportunities for them to develop their careers but then the cameron employees will realize they are better paid and have better conditions than the slb employees and HR will start the "integration" which means cutting their salaries and benefits to the same as slb. Then the cameron management will have to report to the psychopath schlumbertron higher management globally and they will realize this bunch of moronic schlumbertrons just want to control everything and then the firing and layoffs start. they will talk the talk about cameron people being in management for a while and things may appear ok but towards the end of the first year the schlumbertrons won't trust the cameron people to run their own business and will want to appoint one of their own and usually they will find a psychopathic schlumbertron somewhere who won't have any experience in their business and he or she will become the new president. This psycho will then start firing all the cameron managers to replace them with schlumbertrons and bit by bit the company will fall apart and people start to leave in droves if they haven't already jumped ship - welcome to shlumberger

Opinions vary, as far as my experience and years of service for a number of Global 500 companies, the thinking of your head up a manager's butt so that when he or she yawns you can see your eyeballs, is a temporary plan, for success. This will be realized when most people now have to switch gears and look at other industries for jobs.

What I stated was accurate to my experience, you only have yourself to count on when it comes to getting the job, and doing the job. A personal attack on me truly wasn't warranted, at least when I write down my comments it's at the very least coherent, not like the rant displayed to start this particular chain of comments. You have it right when it comes to Cameron, especially the corporate world. As far as what SLB will do, unless you have worked for them and are speaking from experience, we don't truly know.

I will leave it to you, good luck in your future with that sort of attitude, especially if you believe in having the ass kiss method as a goal, most managers that are successful do not forget to pull up the rungs when climbing the ladder. This is for good reason nowadays, as their are many ass kissers, with the primary goal in mind is to bypass the manager as quickly as possible. All this without earning the respect of others or having the Motts to prove themselves in whatever they do, life or work. It is a sad state of affairs when the young generation expect everything to be given to them without the hard work applied.

146597-you must be very young or very naïve or both. Yes, believe in yourself and put your blinders on, see how far that gets you life. Ultimately you will find that is not how hard you work, how confident you are, or how knowledgeable you are, it's who butt you are up. That's what gets you a job and keeps your job. The days of hard work and being a team player are LONG GONE. Crumble, crumble.

All mergers or Acquisitions will require change from the Parent Company, these comments are so ridiculous, Schlumberger is number one for founded reasons, and frankly there has to be new direction for Cameron. What is there now is not truly working, frustrations were high way before the sale and unless you are part of the Executive that have just gained millions in stock over this deal, there is no other immediate benefit for Cameron people? You only have 2 options stick it out go for the ride and see if you are welcomed at the end or move on, ultimately the only security in the job front is believing in your personal experience and knowledge to be able to offer to any corporation.

a few months back they started replacing managers...production managers, etc. with barely 30 -year olds or early 30's, so that when the ugly stuff that was about to happen did happen they could be the ones who told people...people who they hardly had a relationship with that they are not needed...it would be easier if they had not come up through the ranks with these people....they didn't know their families and all, their situations, if they had a special needs child and the wife couldn't work, you little things like that, now do you get the psychology of this?
