Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

I don't think the problem is Mackey or at least it wasn't

The real problem is that Mackey and his regional leadership never get to see a real store in operation. We have all dealt with fixing up the store to perfection right before they come to make it look perfect. The problem in all of this is store leadership and department leadership who don't know what they are doing. They fudge the short term numbers and make things look great on paper. I worked in a store where we hid thousands of dollars of product as to not be in the spoilage calls. The regional leadership never gets a clear picture cause everyone wants to stay out of trouble. I have worked for one amazing stl and one amazing team leader and all the rest have been lying egotistical pieces of crap that couldn't flip burgers let alone steer a million dollar store towards continued success.

When the recent sub team alignment happened, we all asked regional why the labor budget for certain departments didn't increase and was told to "just figure it out as you go along".

It's always look great, God is watching when regional tours happen. Shouldn't we look that good/ execute that well at all times? Part of the mess is that.
