Thread regarding University of Phoenix layoffs

University of Phoenix's Future...and You

University of Phoenix's future does not look bright, but they still have (questionable) allies: Al Sharpton, Nancy Pelosi, Jane Oates, the NAACP, the Boys & Girls Clubs, the American Petroleum Institute and others. There are also many people in power (predominantly Republicans) and some media outlets (Wall Street Journal, FOX) who support for-profit colleges and for-profit education in general. I'll bet Capelli and others are just hoping that nothing bigger happens before the next Presidential election. Both the Republicans and the Clinton crime family have been generally supportive of for-profit education. In terms of University of Phoenix workers, anybody who has some semblance of ethics needs to resign ASAP and immediately deliver whatever information they have to the various federal agencies and state Attorneys General..........................https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/apollo-group-sinking-ship-dahn-shaulis?trk=mp-author-card

@237 - oh! You're one of those kind? The kind that believes everything they hear or see without doing the research. Justin beiber goes on a rampage with his bad spending, setting a bad example: everyone hates him. Times goes on, stays away from the media, helps a couple people with some large donatons, makes it public: HE's BACK IN THE GAME!! F*** you an your media BELIEBERS!

@ 6237: No wrongdoing? That's not what the current news indicates...

861& 961 - right there with you! UOP may be under quite an investigation but it's doubtful that they will see wrongdoing. Maybe they should investigate all other universities as well and see how much more the school actually spends on doing the right thing. Camden Kid is an idiot!

@263: Considering the current investigations with the DoD, FTC, some state Attorney General offices, and (now) the investors, it's doubtful that UOP will only get a "slap on the wrist".

Enrollment will strangle this beast. Rationalizations, neutralizations , regulations, republicans, democrats, marketplace realignments, program refinements, online reassignments. All bullshit....now!

This is definitely not a good luck for the for-profit industry. I wonder what is coming next. This industry is finished and there will not be any major turnarounds at all.

@961--resign. It's clear you've overdosed on the Kool-Aid. If you don't make numbers, or should you question managers, the executives will find a way to dismiss you, unless you are a protected "class" if employee. Anyway, many will be cut loose in the months to come. For-profits are doomed now.

I can't speak for corporate executives, but as an EA, I sleep well at night knowing I conduct myself ethically everyday. I preach to students to borrow minimum amounts of loans and manage their debt appropriately. I encourage them to apply for scholarships and most rarely do. At what point should students be held accountable for their poor decision making? We can advise them to borrow minimum amounts and research other schools before making a commitment, but as an open enrollment school, we cannot deny them if they request maximum amounts and enroll without doing their due diligence. With that said, I am ready to start at a new job and escape this circus of miserable, uninformed people who want to see the school fail. Go ahead, I'm ready for all of the hate comments about my mom, my race, and whatever nonsense you can spew. I'm good with it.

@931--you're definitely an idiot "praying" to a magic sky-god. No, you have to be a "FEENIX", dunderhead.

@861--you have to be a "Feenix"--your writing betrays your for-profit "education". Stop embarrassing yourself.

The idiot shills for this company are worried they will lose their jobs. Hate to break it to you, but most of you will be gone in the weeks and months to come. UOP is an overpriced high school that cares more about recruiting new students than it does about academic rigor and tangible student outcomes. There will be fewer than 100K students by end of 2017 and this crap school will be entirely online by this time or sometime in 2018.

If UOP was doing anything illegal they would have been shut down. UOP is still open. The FTC investigation is a civil investigation. Why is it civil because there is no fraud. Worse case, the school gets a slap on the wrist. People that complain about UOP are disgruntled students that couldn't pass classes, disgruntled employees who got let go because they were shady, or people who are just bitter and have nothing better to do.

Camden kid is nothing but a person that needs to put others down to feel better. Happiness doesn't come from others demise. It sad to know you haven't found true happiness.

I don't do any unethical, so there is nothing for me to report. I talk with people about education and career goals. Teach them about smart borrowing, which is far more than my community college did. I know I do the right thing and I know I make a difference. This is a great college and it does really help people and you would know this if you read anything that is out right now. Students are standing up for the college in large numbers. The blog I seen yesterday showed that people are successful and happy. Sorry cam kid but what happened in past, does not predisposition it to be the same school forever. They really want to do the right thing. Read who they hired to help with the college. There is so much you don't know or understand. Yes the college will lose a lot of good people with restructuring, but that's what it needs to align to meets their goals.Cam kid I wish you best of luck with your life. Hate is a horrible disease that eats people up. I think you need to relax, go have a drink. If you research the bad that is all you will find. I bet if we knew your true identity, you would have skeletons in your closet. Just saying everyone does and most of learn from them.
