175935: I did not forgo a raise or bonus out of the goodness of my heart. Qualcomm decided that, in its tough times, it should use the money to give raises and bonuses to VP-. No announcement was made other than the VP+ being told. The entire time I was at Qualcomm, Qualcomm tried to do right by its employees. I did not always agree and I would let them know, but I understood that they were trying to do the best for the employees with what they had.

175934: "when Qualcomm did not do well, it was the VP+ that took the hit. "... Really???? Like when Q lost its major customer (I am assuming you count this scenario as Q not doing well?), Sr dir associated with the loosing project got promoted to VP? If you mean this was a "hit", hate to see what is the case when they get rewarded when company is doing bad...

When did VP+ ever 'not do well'? Plus if in 2009 Ben Bernanke had the "courage to act' surely a VP would have the 'courage to only make $350k base'

I am not defending the compensation of VP+. In fact, I argued against it. I am only pointing out that when Qualcomm did not do well, it was the VP+ that took the hit. Of course, it was the VP+ that were rewarded when Qualcomm did well. Yet, in my opinion, rewarding some others that are really contributing would be better as us VP+ already have a house. So, giving us some more money mattered less than giving more money to non VP top performers. Buying a house in San Diego is fracking expensive.

175934: SM and MR reward is well known you can't bend facts to defend them. If you indeed forgo your "VP+" bonus and raise, tell us your name so we can send you a Bucket for thanks.

175867: Please provide your full name so that when people challenge your unsupported assertions they can refer to you correctly. Before I retired from Qualcomm this year, while I was a VP and above, we would forgo raises and bonus when the company performed well below expectations. At those times, the raises and bonus pools for everyone else was less as well, but the VP+ got nothing.
