Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

When I was an engineer I somewhat worried about losing our jobs to overseas competition....

A lot of us actually did lose our jobs to offshore workers. Usually this was a mistake for most companies, nuff on this. Today, with the H1B schema, companies are importing their own cheap labor... rather than run the remote stuff... Many of them are doing it through shell companies or temp agencies (e.g., Adecco) so they're not liable. QC is even more ballsy, or stupid, they do direct hiring of H1Bs... It's just f-ingcrazy how this is all working out.

Outsourcing HR is a very popular practice these days. Only one problem, outsourced HR does not provide employee snooping.

If we get rid of all lawyers and MBA's, I think all outsourcing problems are gone. It is a text book tactic to set up shop overseas to cut labor cost. It is even better to just outsource. All American companies that outsourced to Asia ended up being kill by the OEM's that came out with their own branding. How do we compete when our fellow Americans are eager to sell the technology abroad?

Yeah, this H1B practice is similar to Nazi Germany and how the Jews stole their jobs. We Americans need to put a stop to this or history will repeat itself.
