Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

EOIs being denied?

does anyone know if they are notifying the individuals that submitted the EOI and got denied? If so, how? I'm in Bville and submitted an EOI but haven't heard anything.

Anonymous174280 - An Expression of Interest (EOI) allowed employees to "raise their hand" for a voluntary layoff. If you're near retirement this provides a bonus year of pay (if you have enough service years) versus retiring outside of a layoff. Not sure they were offered to all employees.

HR should have contacted you by now. They have until October 18th, to offer other options, if you were not considered. If you were hoping to get your advanced $$$$, severance option and not retirement age, you maybe SOL. Your FIRED!!!

Sorry, I am new to the industry, and this is the first time ever I got laid off (yesterday, Calgary). Can someone please explain what EOI is?

The HR staff are the henchmen in the layoff process. The HR staff are equally likely to be involved in the layoff. Cannot imagine all volunteers would be walked as some of the volunteers were quite valuable to the company. Certainly an opportunity to create a not so happy employee, though.

I was told that submitting an EOI did not determine you would be laid off. the were various factors on who stays and who goes. Unless lied to. Don't believe I was.

I spoke to an HR rep before the layoffs began, and was told that those who submitted the EOI would get an HR interview either way.

The first post is mistaken. It depends on where you are. My group was scheduled for today. I put in an EOI and I will sign the papers today.

I have heard (all second hand) that some people did get told they would not be accepting their EOI. If you haven't heard anything then I think it is still a possibility. If your direct supervisor knows you put in a EOI ask them if they know anything on the status.
