I have shopped at Whole Foods since the beginning. It is not just John Mackey's vision that has made Whole Foods a successful business, it is also the vision of the people who work at Whole Foods. I can honestly say that in the past 15 years, I have never encountered an employee working at any of the stores in Minnesota who wasn't helpful and knowledgeable. If they didn't know the answer they always take the time to find out HOW or WHERE to get the answer. Unions develop in businesses where employees are not treated well. When a business treats employees well, unions are not a threat. Mackey's problem is that he decided to tango with Wall Street... where GREED runs rampant. He doesn't believe in affordable health care but he is going against all the values he has touted to press during the past 15 years... by aligning himself with the BIG BOYS who believe they deserve more than any one else. It's sad... Perhaps... the corporate board should get rid of Mackey before he destroys everything that was built... Bottom line: For democracies to thrive People who work deserve to be paid a decent living wage AND they deserve access to affordable healthcare. How many times does history have to repeat itself before this is understood? I stand with the people who work at Whole Foods. Again, perhaps it is Mackey who needs to go.

They tried. That's why Walter is now co-CEO. It was a compromise to take the focus off John after all the WSJ articles and foot-in-his mouth crap a few years back.

they kill me with the fund raisers, whole planet or whole kids drives,and whole trade products while the board of directors and mackey dont even want you as an employee to have health care...the hypocrisy and playing upon the consumers entitled guilt reek to high hell...anybody got a benefits pack from about 2001 could show you how much our benefits have been gutted by the wall street guys...and over inflated health costs..i never understood why mackey bitched about obamacare and not the greed of the healthcare industry..imagine how much money would come off corporate books if we had universal healthcare?
