Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

WTF COP? What happened to reducing bureaucracy?

It would seem that COP management is akin to a deck of cards. Other than they are all jokers, it would seem that this reorganization is simply shuffling the deck. I thought we were going to eliminate some managerial and supervisory positions. I'm not seeing any of that. All I see is the ratio of jokers to peons get lower. Seriously, are we not going to end up having people supervise 1 or 2 people?? What the hell happened to empowering the employees?

And I saw a lot of good cost cutting ideas submitted, but hardly any implemented except for the brilliant idea (being sarcastic) of cutting off free juice and bottled water. But I can still load up on coffee.

The supervisors are doing layoffs within their groups first. Once they've cut everyone from their group, the higher ups will let them know if that will actually be their group or not. It's coming, but not in the first wave.

I don't know of anyone who has seen their direct supervisor let go. And I have not seen any supervisory position completely eliminated.
