Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

No major layoff happened in September.

Anyone know when it will happen? Did it get pushed back to allow the new head of HR to have input?

Don't confuse hate with pure facts/frustration as they are two different things.

Doesn't the management understand they would have better productivity if they let everyone know what's going on? People are wasting time and not getting things done due to the sword that hangs over the staff?

Correct, hate sold separately, bitterness not included. Upper mismanagement reads the hates and will just label this entire blog haters which isn't true. This site isn't & shouldn't be about hate/bitterness but about change & people keeping their jobs & the idiots who got us in this mess loosing theirs. Not that this site will or can actually fix anything but let's stay level headed.

Let's face it the company is being run by gay men who never played with toys (other than barbie) and barren women who are too driven by their jobs to spread their legs and experience childbirth and have a clearer understanding of what a mother's needs are for their child's development/enjoyment (though they are prone to drop to their knees for that corporate advancement, but then so are the gay fellas). Face it. Straight men in mattel are a dying breed being forced out to pasture.

Glad you felt better after leaving because I couldn't wait to get out of there......... Reminded me of the original Invasion of the Body Snatchers movie. "Don't go to sleep, don't show emotion, just act like them". I planned my escape carefully & methodically, Shawshank Redemption style. Sorry for all the movie reference :) As we keep reading here, the place used to be a fun place, full of talented people generating cool awesome toy concepts as a team. Now you have Marketing people picking colors instead of making sure that their so called Marketing strategy actually makes sense. That troll guy can keep referring to this comment as victimization but he or she is a fool because we know change is needed & it idiots like him that has to go. Unfortunately they're the ones running the show.

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't as pragmatic when I was let go. I was angry, bitter, and filled with rage because I gave most of my adult career to a company that I loved being a part of and felt like the reasoning was absolute BS. I can look back with both pride in seeing how far this company has fallen knowing full well that I ultimately wasn't part of the problem with an equal part of absolute sadness because there isn't anything I wouldn't give to go back and work on trying to fix those problems. I loved my job, enjoyed every aspect from the outlook calendar filled with meetings to late night conferences with HK from home status updates. Getting excessed because of my age or some political BS (they never really tell you) hurt like a motherf'er but I moved on and have an even better job with a more successful company and all because I utilized the tools they gave me on my exit interview and took full advantage of anything and everything they were going to offer.

Totally agree with the last 2 comments just to show that it's not all MattHell hates on this site. Just frustration/disappointment as hard working good people lose their jobs while the uppermismanagement that got us into this mess keep their jobs & even GET PROMOTED!!!!!!!!

Agreed, though when I was let go the outplacement resource was for 6 months. If anyone here happens to be let go, you should fully take advantage of it. Incredibly helpful and a good resource to utilize. Don't let your bitterness cloud your judgement. Read the packet, look at what they are offering you and use it all. So much happier now that I'm no longer a part of that work environment. Wish you all the best.

They are doing " rolling layoffs" so it is not a huge number one one or two days, it's a lot more humane, as the don't walk you out with security like you are a criminal. But hey let you meet with your coworkers and turn over your workload to the poor people who are still stuck there, trying to pretend that everything is okay. The severance is fair, and the outplacement resource is for 2 months, and is very helpful. I can honestly say that getting laid off was a good thing, it allows me to find a position and a company that I want to be with, the morale at Mattel was so bad, and so sad.

I've seen many large scale lay offs happen right before ThanksForNothing Day. Conflicting reports on the supposedly reduced severance packages though. One source said reduced another said the packages remain the same formula years served = blah, blah, so who knows until it happens to you or me. At Q3 Spinner Sinclair will do his spew, Farr will lie through his teeth as Dickson worries/concentrates on building more muscle mass @ the Health Center Gym with Mike the trainer. No worries, just keep coming in following the stupid makes no sense direction from upper mismanagement & ride the train to the end of the line. When it happens, it happens. Happy Holidays :)

Not the the upcoming Q3 results are going to be good (regardless of whatever spin the bozos at the top profess) but I do hope that the people still floating aimlessly on the ruddless ship known as the F.U. MattHell are safe. At least until after the holidays. No one deserves to be let go right before the holidays. especially with their newly reduced severance package.

Maybe they're waiting because they need all current available bodies to help with the seasonal rush?
