Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

At first i was scared. Then i was sad for all the great people that got it at Lamar. But now i wonder which group is the lucky one? Any thoughts

i took the severance because I felt like my job would probably be gone in another year or so (i was a buyer) and i might not get as generous a package next time. so many atls and tls have told me they would take the package too if it were offered. I already have several leads for better jobs (through contacts I've made through whole foods) and many of my friends who left already have other jobs and have a nice bonus from the severance. I'd been wanting to leave for a while, this just made it easier for me.

most team members in my store could not wait to sign the papers, this company has been going down hill for awhile. they keep bringing in non whole foods people from mainstream retailers and it slow morphs us into main stream the culture at wfm is all bs. can unions be that far away?

I would say none. the ones that remain are left with wounds from their fallen friends. I must admit I weeped when several team members took the package. i weeped because of the injustice of it all. its like they were coerced out within a matter of days. the market is hard and the pay is shitty I've been unemployed before its not a good feeling regardless of packages or not. I ask myself why does this continue to happen over and over again throughout history. only thing that changes are the characters on stage. and for the ones who took the package it must also be a traumatic experience because just a few days ago they had no idea they would be jobless . nor were they planning on quitting or anything else. some TMs had goals of moving up . and now gone.
