Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

If there are more lay offs come January, do we think they will offer the same severance package? (like do they have to per the law?)

I believe the severance will be the same, because this will be ASTL's and higher ups.

They do not have to give severance per law. They need to file a WARN notice with your local state department of labor, 60 days in advance. Many companies avoid filing the 60 days notice by giving you a 60 day pay as severance, so basically, they keep you on payroll until the 60 day requirement expires. As your employment is at-will, both parties can terminate it at any point in time, without additional financial or other considerations. However, the 60 day WARN notice rule is imposed, you may check what the regulation for your state as it relates to WARNs is (I am pretty sure it's not a federal requirement, but you might want to google it). Good luck.

Specialist here. I was thinking the same thing regarding more lay offs in Jan.

Been with the company for 10+, so I am preparing to be laid off in the near future.

I will be taking severance if it's available.

It is NOT the law, so they can do whatever they want.
