Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Data Unification and Department Merging- also standardizing ASTLs to 1 per store?

The whole point of data unification was to make things the same region to region. If some regions are merging departments now, that means all will eventually follow suite. Why bother with data unification only to have some regions combine meat and seafood or grocery and whole body? My question is, for the regions that have merged departments, how has this affected the TLs and ATLs of the departments that have merged? For instance, if Whole Body and Specialty merged into grocery, did they make all those various TLs and ATLs reapply for all those jobs? This merging would also affect the regional coordinator setup...

Will all stores now just have 1 ASTL?

Okay, so it condenses the number TLs within the store significantly. I guess with the streamlined scheduling and buying systems, it will free up more time. The near future seems even bleaker within the stores.

A couple stores in the south have the following makeup:

Prepared foods (1 ATL) + bakery (1 ATL) and one TL for both

Grocery (1 ATL) + specialty (1 ATL) + whole body and 1 TL for all three combined teams

Meat and seafood 1 ATL and 1 TL

That's it. There may be a couple of supervisor speckled in there but I wouldn't count on it.

Also 1 ASTL and 1 STL

So, when the teams merge, there remains just 1 TL and 1 ATL. I thought maybe there'd be 1 TL for say a Bakery/Specialty team and then maybe 2 ATLs. Especially since it seems like the buyers are going away...

Teams are already merging in SW. Specialty with bakery under 1 TL. In the stores I know about, the specialty TL promoted up, so the bakery TL got the team, then hired an ATL for specialty. In the other store, the specialty TL has opted out this week, so team will move under bakery TL and again will have a specialty ATL.

I contacted my old grocery TL who moved from NC to MA. She said they're merging Frontend, whole body and grocery. The TL's of each dept will have to apply for the one TL position. She didn't mention ATL's, but I'm sure it's the same deal with them.
