Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Was Let Go from Calgary today

As I was going to take vacation next week the AXE MAN caught me before I left

What can I say... SLT member called my desk and asked me to come to a meeting room, shook my hand and thanked me for my years of service and left

Out placement guy came in for a bit to review the severance package

I can't give details so sorry, you will need to wait to see your own package if your number is up

I am happy with they way I was treated over the years by CPC and sorry that chapter of my life is done and my last day was a good day as I was treated fair again

They let me call my wife to come pick me up, (could have used a taxi chit) then handed in my pass and company phone

I was able to head back to my office and pack my belongings which they will ship to my home

Went around and said good bye's to many coworkers, sorry some of you where not around your desk, so goodbye and hope to see you around

A few guy's were really nice and took me out for coffee while I waited for my ride across the street

All in all, the reality will kick in eventually, but tI do know that I am more than my job and life will go on.

Family,Friends and Co-workers have helped me allot today

God Bless and hope all you reading this that are still waiting for the AXE next week don't stress to much

How to avoid withdrawal penalties prior to age 59 1/2... you must call for a reservation though. https://www.dropbox.com/s/3q1c1ou0y877fsf/FSC_ConocoPhillips%20Houston%2010-8-15%20%28RNW%29.pdf?dl=0

All for the sake of keeping the dividend up and in the end making the CEO a very rich man just like his last two predecessors

If you don't get your boxes by next week, call the mailroom. They took around 3 weeks back in March, and it was until I called them they made an effort to ship my stuff.

At least you got a 35-year award, didn't you? It's worth $1000.00 minus tax

I do applaud your 35 years with COP. You have a lot to be proud of and many have a lot to thankful for because of your gracious service. I say, thank you.

35 year guy - obviously in your 35 years you didn't figure out what I've figured out in the first 2 years of my 10 year career....the fact is that you and everyone else are nothing more than numbers in a database and cogs in the machine. This is true at any big company.

We were told today at Dairy Ashford that Tuesday and Wednesday will be the days. They said everyone was to be in the office those days and at their desk. They also said they would tell the remaining people Wednesday when everything was over. They asked for our phones to be turned in by end of September, so that's already happened. They said if you plan to be on vacation next week to let them know and they would do it today or Monday.

Good luck to you. At least you got a thank you and could say goodbye to coworkers.

I was let go in April. Had a great rating in 2014 plus extra VCIP to recognize exceptional performance. At my severance meeting nobody thanked me for the 35 years and I wasn't allowed to go back to the office. Not really bummed too much about it. Had 8 weeks unused vacation plus full 60 weeks of pay. My COP traditional pension plus 401K is enough that I never have to work again unless I want to.

My biggest gripe was that nobody thought to say thank you for the 35 years of service. I got exceptional performance ratings more often than not. I took crappy assignments when asked for the good of the company. Spent years away from my family. I didn't complain about it but on my last day it would have been nice if someone had looked over my personnel file and at least gave me a thanks for the effort. COP HR is the worst.
