Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Do The Math 1.6% Reduction IS A JOKE

Like the earlier poster mentions, if 1.6% = 3.5 people per store, why were there over ~30 people affected in my store alone?12 people in PFDS, Marketing (1), ASTLs (2), Specialists (3), Customer Service Supervisors (8), Signmakers (2), PBS (1). This is a much bigger/deeper cut than the PR department is telling the press. Get the REAL numbers and get that scoop on CNN...

They are lying and they are restructuring. Walter Robb didn't have to reapply for his same position. These people are full of it. Our store leadership moved people around right before the news hit to protect the buyers they like and get rid of those they didn't like. I was moved into a grocery lead buying position days before on purpose, because I am good at what I do and my numbers are in the black. I will not stay. Option 1 today

At the end of this round of layoffs, the total work force will be reduced by 1.6%. That's WFM deception at it's best, a PR stunt meant to soften the impact to the casual observer.

Thousands of people are being laid off company wide, much more than 1.6% of the total work force. Once some people reapply, and other new team members are hired into new stores, currently open positions, etc. the net result is expected to be a 1.6% reduction in the total number of employees. Again, this is just for the time being. Who knows if more is to come. It's likely.

If anyone is looking for the scoop- keep in mind that WFM is forcing many team members to either walk away (with whatever severance, paid time off, etc. they have available). To the press, they are talking about what a "sad day" it is, talking about how "compassionately" they are treating the team members who are being laid off.

The reality is, two or more co-workers (let's say a Wine Specialist and Beer Specialist) who have worked side by side for years, become friends & even like family, are both laid off and told that their position is being combined into a single position. Now, these two friends are forced to decide whether or not to compete against one another for the newly created position. Put yourself in those individual's shoes for just a moment. Imagine the gut-wrenching process of having to decide between a job for yourself or a job for your long time co-worker and friend. This is WFM's idea of compassion, folks.

I realize no journalist worth their salt will be able to use any of the info on this website in an official capacity, but someone please hear these stories, do the research via appropriate channels, and get the word out. WFM is being dishonest, disrespectful, cruel and unusual in their treatment of these poor team members.

Can someone email me the list of stores at this address : WFMLayoffs@mailismagic.com so I can use it to prepopulate the table? DO NOT USE YOUR REAL EMAIL FOR SENDING IT.... Alternatievely, I can use the list someone provided here a few days ago. Please post here if you've sent it.
