Don't screw over the hardest and most knowledgeable workers in the store! Assess just how much money these team leaders are making (its A LOT!) and determine if what they make is appropriate for the amount of work they are doing. I know of a seafood team leader who makes 70 thousand per year! And yet the department has one of the smallest sales in the store. A majority of these team leaders are just sitting on their asses and leave the role of leadership to the buyers and supervisors.

TL is one of the toughest poositions in WFM. TLs are constantly asked to take on more responsibility, reporting, analysis, conf calls, meetings etc and they are supposed to handle it all in 40 hours (or less a week). It's a tough position and only getting tougher with moves like these. I feel for all the TL's. It's a very challenging role.

All the TLs i had worked their butts off!! I truly learned from them..... now my ATLs are another story! they are overpaid and half the TMs on our team can do a better job than they can!!!!! We'll i guess thats why they never got promoted to TLs! We'll TLs & ATLs seem to be the next move of layoffs
TLs are like anyone else, some are great and some suck. I work off the clock constantly so I can be on the floor with my team instead of sitting in the office. Never mind that you can get fired for doing anything off the clock.
70k is not the norm for a seafood tl, just saying. I make half that as a tl. So no, they shouldn't cut our pay. You have no clue what goes into running a team.
You should also ask them how many hours a week does the average person in store leadership work? It has to be over 50 from what I've seen at the stores I've worked in. Let's say 10 to 15 hours a week times 50 weeks (2 off) that adds up. At just 10 hours a week thats a whole extra 500 hours or the equivalent of 12.5 extra work weeks.
For most TLs 70k is far above what they make, and just because you don't understand their jobs doesn't mean they aren't working, although I've known many who aren't working hard enough. It's not their jobs to throw truck.
I'm a TL and I worked my ass of for 9 years to get where I am today and continue to work my ass off daily and I started out at $8.50 as a regular TM. Everyone starts out at 11 now.15
some team leaders can be bad but this whole layoffs wasnt their fault...but feel free to ask your STL or remaining ASTL what they got as a EVA bonus last year...
It's not the team leaders faults for layoffs. You don't think they work as well? Seems like you're bitter. 70k is not a lot and fair enough compensation for the work they do. You're giving yourself too much credit. If you're so smart and hard working then get a promotion into leadership and stop whining
