Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Actual Number (so tm)

It will be interesting to see the actual numbers of people leaving their jobs. I really think whole foods expected more employees to reapply for their jobs, or try to be team members.

I have been a loyal and hard working team member (department buyer) for 6 years and was pretty much guaranteed my job if i reapplied, but the severance package was just too good. Here is what my store lost that I know of for sure: both store artists, demo team member and coordinator, 5 of the seven front end supervisors, 3 of the 5 grocery buyers (one who was VERY good at his job and had been there for a long time), both whole body buyers, both seafood buyers. All took the severance and left. It has been almost a week now and I'm actually thankful that Whole Foods gave me this chance to get a sweet severance and find another job before things became unbearable. So many people in higher positions have been saying that they wish they had gotten offered severance. I do feel bad for the team members left behind. It will be a stressful holiday season for sure if they don't get many good applicants for the vacant positions.

This had only further solidified my distrust for corporate America. Whole Foods was supposed to be the "good one." It makes me sad just coming in to work now. I wasn't laid off but I've already begun the search for something better. Fxck you, Whole Foods.

I hear some stores in the south have lots of people going for jobs and some don't have as many. My stl said we get first crack at the open positions so I may not even have to apply. Good luck to everyone.

I am the last buyer out of 8 that were in Grocery. Our store does 1.2 million in sales weekly. Today I had to order for Bulk foods, grocery, frozen, bread and dairy. I actually had to run, yes run, to come even close to getting done and there is no way the orders are up to par. While I was running a store team leader had the audacity to clap his hands to get me to go faster in some sick attempt to motivate me even further. My last day will be Saturday. 9 years of buying experience in all departments with very good numbers to prove my worth. How much does a 40yr old with my experience make at Whole Foods for going in at midnight and 2am and over-night? I make $14/hr. Hardly a living wage. DON'T BELIEVE WALTER ROBB'S LIES PLEASE!!

In my region there are no jobs to apply for. We are already negative The only positions are hunger games buyers. We are truly screwed as well as our remaining tms who.have to carry the burden of work and uncertainty. Maybe my regional coordinator will come to do the weddings I had for October and all the Xmas trees

I was told that some stores had a lot of people leave and others have people lined up for jobs. Good thing is that my region has a rule that says if you are the only one who applies for a job by the day of the interview you automatically get it. That's my plan. No stress and get to keep my pay.
