Applied for a job at Publix Friday after I was told about the layoff. Got a call back today and they only pay $8.50/hour!!! I make $15 right now at wfm. I guess I'll stay and apply for one of these new jobs or go back to a tm job. No way I'm going back to $8.50

game over . I have never thought about having children for that matter of one day getting laid off and not being able to provide . I could sleep on the street but I wouldn't allow my loved ones to do such.

They pay $8.50 an hour because weighing deli meat, stacking apples and demoing cheese does not require even a high school diplomia. What happens when you pay these positions $15.50 an hour? They get let go! Maybe if half of leadership actually valued education and went to college, instead of poo-pooing it, this wouldn't have happened!

So you'll put yourself and your family at risk to try and make a point? I have mouths to feed. In six months this whole layoff will be forgotten by the media (some newspapers are already saying its a good idea to do the layoff) and you'll be the sucker who left out of principle and is now needing government assistance.

Assess all youve learned, you new skills and experience and look for something better.
If you keep making lateral moves you ll never be anything. And you certainly wont make 15/hr
you're a sucker. you'd rather work for a company you can't trust and who will probably cut ties with you at the drop of a hat and yet you stay for the pay. it's not gonna last. i'd rather work for 8.50 an hour for the rest of my life than work for a company with such bad, hypocritical ethics and a bunch of idiots in charge.
