Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

WE WORK FOR A DAMN CORPORATION, WHY ARE WE SURPRISED?! ALSO JOHN MACKEY IS AN OUT OF TOUCH DOUCHE BRO

why are people on here so surprised that this company is doling out this crap? i've worked at whole foods on and off for 5 years and never once bought into the whole "we care about team members and their happiness" crap. it's all a facade. john mackey is a damn nuisance. i feel bad for you trusting, sweet people that thought you ever worked for a decent place. i truly believe the people who they promote to supervisor or team leader positions, for the most part, are stupid, heartless, assholes. they don't care about you and the hilarious thing is that their bosses don't care about them. everyone is expendable. except for john mackey and all his dumb, white, former hippie friends. ok great, so whole foods still raises money for local schools and women in third world countries. woopdy damn doo. think of all the starving people in OUR OWN COUNTRY. think of all your coworkers on food stamps. yes, maybe whole foods is better than working at Pet Smart. better pay, better staff. but you know what, Pet Smart doesn't go around tooting their damn horn "our workers love to work here, team member happiness is SO important to us, we are conscious capitalists"

it's a bunch of hypocrisy. they NEVER EVER EVER wanted to pay for your health insurance. not now, not ten years ago. it's just worse now because they're losing money. john mackey got too big for his tiny little britches. what a damn douche. i hope he reads this, the damn douche.

Dear Anon,

Shouldn't you and your fellow hacker buddies get to work. You can started by extending my severance pay from 16 weeks to 16 years. Thanks

From the beginning it was a marketing ploy. Slogans to drum up business by making customers feel all nice and cushie about their purchases. WFM does some good for the community and other countries, but at the end of the day they are a business and a corporation. It's incredibly sad people are losing their jobs. My friends and fellow TM's are getting laid off and it's terrible, I agree. Sorry to those people who actually believed the Forbes lists. They had brand new TM's who haven't even worked a day at the company fill out positive survey reviews to the Forbes list about working at WFM before actually working at the store level. That's how this company got on the best places to work for list.

I couldn't agree more. I never drank the Kool-Aid. I was a buyer and an ATL at one time or another, and now just a TM. I've never had any delusions that WFM is some benevolent force in the universe. They are a corporation whose sole aim is profit...for the execs and stockholders. Mackey is a neo-liberal, an Ayn Rand libertarian of the worst kind. He, Robb, and the rest of their cronies are pure unregulated free market wolves trying to dress in sheep's clothing. "Conscious Capitalism" has been and every will be, an oxymoron. Time to blow this popsicle stand.
