Chesapeake energy did ut in style. From what I have heard a minimum of 13 weeks severance is offered to all laid of employees. And they didn't keep all the workforce hostage during these layoffs

Chesapeake is in far worse shape financially. Sad state of affairs ConocoPhillips continues to focus on the optimistic future of the company without meeting the industry standards for severance.
Chesapeake employees have known for months that layoffs were in the works so still had to go through some of the waiting.
