I agree, too many good workers are being let go. Can someone - anyone tell me why we still have the troll doing nothing but walking around every floor with a coffee in her hand with her chosen few shadowing? Yeah - we ALL know who I'm talking about. Such BS, downsize by getting rid of the useless dead weight and keeping actual talent - go getters. They must swallow...just sayin. HR is about as useful too.

169588- Agree 100%. But you forgot to add the non-performing Production Ops team led by Baybee's pal Buzan and his team of merry idiots!
Which is why Mabee gave his supervisors and managers Permian Unconventional lip gloss. Look at the pretty lips and strong jaws on Smalstig, Westerman, Chris Jackson, Renee Rosener and Czir...all supported by their management consultant and like-minded staffs who IM/network (ie, golf, drinks, etc...) with Mabee directly (like Bryan Phillips and the entire RE staff). Terri Claus...all I want for Christmas is for you to gut this project!
The "new ConocoPhillips"? You mean the SOLD ConocoPhillips?
Its sad but very true. Politics do play into it. Recently I have seen many good people getting moved into roles that are clearly a backwards step in their careers and others who have no experience nor demonstrated they are capable of producing better being promoted to senior positions. These things happen at all companies but the toxic environment at ConocoPhillips has seen managers stick up for their friends and punish workers who continuously out performed their co-workers and make their mates look insufficient. Even 1 rated individuals are at risk if their are not best friends with certain managers.
Can anyone think of any examples?
"You are gone next week. No room for nasty people in the new ConocoPhillips."
The "new COP" will be an administrative shadow of its poorly managed and extravagant self, selling off assets and concurrently reserving golden parachutes for the chosen few.
October is the month when world-class international credit, which has pumped COP's undeserving life-blood heretofore, is going to dry up like last year's tomato can.
Time to retrain , or apply for a job on the floor of Home Depot. I watched this in 1986. Look up the "Kondratief Cycle."
.
Being nice and competent is a wonderful thing. Smug, think they know it all people are usually more trouble than they are worth.
How about people who can do their jobs and not be a dick to everyone? They do exist... Just because you can do a menial job better than the next guy doesnt mean you have a right to be disrespectful. Little mans syndrome.
To those of you that said no room for you at the new COP, would you rather have a nice person that you have to fix their f***ups and work longer hours because they are incompetent or someone that isn't so nice but is dependable and competent so you don't have to fix their mistakes and work longer hours? I suppose if you like rainbows and unicorns and want to only deal with nice retards you are probably the ones that people clean up after you.
165082 - Amen to that. I've suffered from the same issue - not putting up with the departmental BS. They tend to like mindless lemmings as opposed to good workers…..
I've blown more horn than the Phil Harmonic. Nice to know I'm safe. The rest of you better get smoking.
Good riddance
You are gone next week. No room for nasty people in the new ConocoPhillips.
I have noticed that too, we have some real tools running around that know nothing but seem to get promoted. I am great at my job but refuse to play the game so I don't get promoted. Another reason is I am not nice to stupid people so I find myself being nasty a lot, there are so many stupid people around. Yes I have an attitude but when the chips are down they call on me to bail them out.
