Reevaluate The Store Leadership

If only John Mackey & Walter Robb could see the wasteful spending they invest in Store leadership that does nothing but sit downstairs or upstairs all day, they would probably wouldn't have to lay anyone off. Seriously, the Stl and astl do nothing to help the store and boost that morale. They come to the floor with their hands in their pockets, shout orders, point, take pictures, then go send u some sort of threatening email. What is this company turning into?

Yup at our store the store leadership makes you push the envelope on sale forecasting/scheduling in hopes of capturing every little dollar and then holding team leadership accountable for over projecting and not making labor, then not owning up to their decisions at all.No back bone at all.I have to do laundry 4 times a week with all the hand washing that gets done on my shirts daily. If you say something the retaliation can be there. One time at another store I was telling the Astl that her methods were unorthodox and confusing behavior was a making me uncomfortable and she took the comments said she was sorry about them and then right before i was going home 30secs exactly mention the amount points I had and how close I was to getting counseling. I brushed off but you knew she didn't like what I said and went to investigate how to get something on me.

Check out the receiving dock in your store and familiarize yourself with some basic OSHA standards for retail. They are standards for our protection as workers, after all. Are there procedures or equipment for proper lifting of cargo? Are the people using electric pallet jacks certified, and are those certifications current? How's the wiring look in the store? Are they using extension cords as permanent wiring? Is cargo stacked too high? Are pallets flat, or are they leaned against walls? How are the fire exits? It's amazing to see the look on an STL's face when two OSHA inspectors are in the store...

My advice: Turn the tables. Document everything. Make the idle bosses at the top pay. See something that needs to get fixed in your store? Try to get it fixed. When they inevitably do nothing (maybe give them a week), bring it to your local OSHA office -- in writing and with photos. Document management malfeasance. Report it to the tipline and to the press. They've got us worried so let's make them worried.

Yup. I actually quite fond of my STL. He's a smart guy who helps out around the store when he sees a team struggling. I can't really complain about him. However, his ASTL's are F***ing worthless. All they do is walk around the store all day, bark pointless orders, and chit chat. And you know they're making at least $25/hr.
